AWS hosts the RNLI Extranet which is based on Intextra® with customised modules added to display real time network monitoring and KPI's.
The Call Out and Communications (COACS) network, operated by ntl on behalf of the RNLI, is used primarily to alert lifeboat crews using pagers and personal mobile radios. AWS has developed a suite of web applications that are tightly integrated with the COACS network.

"AWS has produced excellent web and network solutions to meet our COACS engineering and operational needs. Their creative input to the project team has been extremely valuable”.
Monitoring of key performance indicators for the 230 lifeboat stations located around the UK and the Republic of Ireland has been managed in the past by the RNLI using traditional communication methods and paper based systems.
Recognising the value of emerging, innovative web technology, the RNLI approached AWS to further understand how these technologies could improve their processes and maximise internal communication and knowledge sharing.
AWS has a wealth of experience in web enabling complex communication systems and has designed and delivered a hosted extranet facility to the RNLI that allows them to view lifeboat launch information and monitor their communications network in real time.
Based on AWS' mapping software, the new web applications provide COACS network managers with a geographical view of the current state of the network. Network events and alarms are plotted as they occur, with historical information available at the click of a button. Information reporting tools provide valuable management information and technical analysis data.
